Work object



The purpose of the profession is: water resources (terrestrial and marine, that is, from oceans to rivers including lakes, streams and lagoons, dams, wetlands, etc.), including water resources converted into " hydraulic resource "from the artificial cycle imposed by society on water for its use by hydraulic works of collection, storage, conduction, purification, distribution, collection, treatment of waste and dumping.



 



Areas  of action



In terms of hydraulic infrastructure, it can be said that the main areas of professional activity of the recently graduated hydraulic engineer are related to: Regulation and recruitment works; driving works; distribution works -in the place of consumption-; collection and emission works; works for purification, treatment and reuse; hydraulic works for users.



 



Action field



The essential contents that ensure the performance of the hydraulic engineer are associated with: the understanding of preliminary theoretical bases for hydraulic planning and functional and economic selection of technical solutions for hydraulic systems; management of hydraulic works; water conduction; use of water resources; management of the water supply, treatment and sanitation system in the environment; physical properties of the soils, methods and techniques of irrigation and agricultural drainage; methodological tools and scientific research for the solution of professional problems in the basic link.
